The Goose Girl: Part One finished. Beautiful writing, great details. I like Ani a lot, and how she slowly grows into herself.
I sent in my comment for the mini challenge hosted by Bart. I know what he means by getting annoyed trying to remember where that cover came from! Oh well. I wasn’t even close to identifying half of them. ^^;

The Goose Girl: who didn’t see that coming, after the girls were described so? Still, it’s good writing.
Taking a break and squinting at the book covers at Bart’s Bookshelf for a mini-challenge. I think I only know two of them, haha.

Hourly update #2.
Let’s see, I dropped Dorothy Dunnett’s Race of Scorpions after finishing two chapters — I knew from the start it was not something I’ll spend a long time reading. (I wish I could throttle Nicholas sometimes! There’s quite a bit in his POV, but I can never really tell what he’s thinking! It makes him almost as bad as Lymond!)
I switched over to Shannon Hale’s The Goose Girl: the metaphors are lovely. “Silence hovered between them like a tired moth.” Nothing like the horrible ones found here. (I think a bit of me died when I read through those. XD)

Yay! The #readathon tag is trending at Twitter!
OK, here’s the introduction meme for hour one:
Where are you reading from today?
From my home in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. I’m at +8 GMT!
How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
I didn’t specifically chose any books for the read-a-thon, but I have a picture of my TBR shelf here, from which I’ll be picking books in the next 24 hours!
3 facts about me:
- I don’t drink coffee. Help me stay up the rest of the read-a-thon!
- I’ve only recently started to really enjoy historical fiction, thanks to Dorothy Dunnett.
- Um. My birthday is next month?
Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
Nope. I just want to read! :)
If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?
This is only my second time, so no veteran here. Just don’t push yourself — take a break when you need to and have fun!

Goodness this place is dusty. Poor abandoned book blog. Long story short, I’ve been having trouble writing lately, so I, uh, decided not to write.
Anyway. I decided, last minute, to join the 24-hour Read-a-thon. And maybe post things here. We’ll see. It’s more likely I’ll update Twitter more often: I’m yatii there. Also real-time updates here! Hash tag is #readathon.
Apparently Kuala Lumpur (+8 GMT) starts at 8 pm. Daylight savings confuse me (we don’t need to save daylight here, ha), so I’ll just follow this page which lists the start times. If I stay up the whole time, I’d be up 36 hours — I got up a little after 8 am today — which I don’t think is possible, so I’ll just try to stay up as long as possible. Also I’m currently proofing two chapters of a book for work, which needs to be done by Monday, so sadly those are higher priority than the books I actually want to read. Hopefully I’ll get those done by 8 pm!
No book lists, but here’s the TBR shelf, from which I’ll be picking books to read tonight (clicking on the images will take you to Flickr, where you can see the larger versions if you want to!):

If I add more books to that shelf, it’ll probably collapse. :O
Books I’m currently reading right now that I’ll probably continue during the read-a-thon: Race of Scorpions by Dorothy Dunnett (intense concentration required!) and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen by Paul Torday (much lighter).
I’ll try to update at the end of each hour, like last time.
Whoo.
